How to Put in Contact Lenses in 4 Easy Steps
- Before you start, wash your hands thoroughly with soap, then rinse and dry them with a lint-free towel.
- Place the lens on the tip of your finger and check if it is inside out. If the edge curves outward, the lens is inside out. It should look like a bowl with straight edges.
- Gently hold your upper eyelid with one finger to prevent blinking or your eyelashes from blocking your view, then carefully pull down your lower eyelid with another finger.
- Move the contact lens steadily toward your eye. When putting in the lens, look up, then slowly release your eyelids and close your eyes for a moment to let the lens settle. Repeat the above steps for the other eye.
How to Remove Contact Lenses in 4 Easy Steps
- Ensure your hands are clean and dry. Start with your right eye, then look up and carefully pull down your lower eyelid with your middle finger.
- Slowly move your index finger toward your eye until it touches the lower edge of the lens, then slide the lens down to the white part of your eye (the sclera).
- Gently pinch the lens between your thumb and index finger, then take it out. Repeat this process for the other eye.
- Discard daily disposable contact lenses. For bi-weekly, monthly, and annual disposable contact lenses, make sure to clean and disinfect them.

- Repeat the above steps for the other lens, close the case, and leave the lenses to soak overnight.
